Sometimes the best stories aren’t planned—they happen by chance. That’s exactly how our journey began.

In the fall of 2023, a group of 14 women from across the U.S. booked spots on a group tour to Greece. Most of us were traveling independently, though a few knew each other beforehand—a trio of sisters, and two sets of friends. For the rest, it was simply a leap of faith: a ticket to a destination we had always dreamed of visiting, not knowing who else would be along for the ride.

What started as a vacation quickly became something much bigger. We explored ancient ruins together, wandered sun-soaked islands, and shared long conversations over Greek wine and fresh seafood. Somewhere between ferry rides and late-night laughter, we discovered that we weren’t just fellow travelers—we were kindred spirits.

By the end of the trip, bonds had been formed that none of us expected. Out of the 14 original travelers, 11 of us have stayed closely connected. In the short two years since Greece, we’ve already shared four more adventures: New York/New Jersey, Richmond, VA, Portland, ME, and, most recently, Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley wine country. Each trip adds new layers to our friendships and reminds us of how extraordinary it is that we found one another in such an unlikely way.

The name Booked by Chance grew naturally from our story. None of us could have planned this. We didn’t know that by pressing “confirm” on a trip to Greece, we were also booking ourselves into a community of women who would become travel companions, confidantes, and lifelong friends.

For us, travel is more than seeing new places—it’s about the connections we make along the way. Every destination is another chapter in a story that began by chance but continues by choice. We choose to keep showing up for each other. We choose to keep exploring. And we choose to keep building memories, one trip at a time.

Booked by Chance is a celebration of friendship, adventure, and the serendipity of travel. It’s proof that sometimes the best journeys aren’t the ones we plan in detail, but the ones we stumble into—and the people we meet along the way.
